Handspan terms of use

Last updated: October 4, 2026 · Operator: SL22 Studios

These terms describe use of Handspan's website and Android app to share files with an intended recipient. By using the service, you agree to use it in accordance with these terms. Questions can be sent to handspanbusiness@gmail.com.

Sharing responsibly

Your files remain yours

Handspan does not take ownership of your files. You authorize the technical processing needed for the transfer you request, including temporarily storing encrypted data when a direct connection is unavailable. The receiving device chooses whether to accept. Recipients can keep or share their copies; Handspan cannot recall them.

Transfer methods and temporary storage

The service tries a direct encrypted connection first. Cloudflare R2 fallback temporarily stores ciphertext when a direct connection is unavailable, while the paired devices hold the decryption keys. The live file relay through Render has been retired. The privacy notice explains metadata, retention and deletion. Both devices must use a version supporting the current storage protocol.

Temporary cloud copies are requested for deletion after confirmed delivery, cancellation or expiry. Deletion and cleanup retries can take time. Keep the original until the recipient verifies and saves their copy. Browser Save can start a download without confirming disk persistence. Handspan is not a backup service or a permanent file inbox, and it cannot recover lost device-held keys.

Availability and limits

Networks, browser restrictions, sleep, storage capacity, service interruptions and software errors can stop a transfer. Automatic retries are limited; they do not guarantee delivery or recovery after an app or browser closes. Invitations and storage sessions expire. Capacity, file-size, request-rate or other limits may apply, and access may be restricted to address abuse or maintain service. We do not promise uninterrupted availability, a particular transfer speed or absolute security.

Integrity verification checks transferred bytes. It does not scan for malware, verify the sender's identity outside the pairing process, or determine whether a file's contents are safe. Use appropriate care before opening received files.

Changes, support and your rights

Features and these terms may change as Handspan develops. Updated terms will be posted here with their revision date. Contact us if you need clarification or believe access was restricted in error. Accessibility support and current limitations are described on the accessibility page.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
